Job Description

Dentons is currently seeking a motivated and versatile professional for the post of Business Development and Marketing Executive to join our rapidly growing team, in Barbados. The role will support the Attorneys in identifying, developing, executing, and advising on activities that generate new business for the firm, including strengthening client relationships, pursuing new business opportunities, and elevating the brand and profile of the firm, practices, and lawyers.

To be effective in this role, you will need to display exceptional time-management, organizational, marketing and communication skills while providing excellent business development support in a quick and efficient manner. A strong candidate for this role is a professional individual who is efficient and detail-oriented with the ability to work collaboratively with the firm’s Attorneys, Partners, and Practice Heads, on key projects to ensure coordination, appropriate leveraging of resources, consistency of approach, and effective execution of initiatives. This position reports to the Business Development and Marketing Manager.

The incumbent’s responsibilities will include but not be limited to the following:

• Support the implementation of structure and continuously improvement of Clients amp; Markets (CMMC) operations and infrastructure.

• Co-lead the development of the Firm’s CMMC strategy and implementation plan, working with the CMMC team to ensure core service lines are driven through all groups and offices.

• Assist with the development of annual strategic business development and marketing plans and corresponding budgets, in addition to managing expenditure.

• Support the coordination and tracking of various business development initiatives.

• Provide support in the creation, preparation, and coordination of EOIs/RFPs/Panel Submissions/Proposals/Pitches for new business development opportunities. Support and sometimes lead major proposals, which may be local, regional, or global, in addition to working with the proposals and pricing team on major bids which involve the Caribbean and wider Latin America region.

• Support jurisdiction-specific and local/regional practice and sector groups ensuring coordination, availability of materials, and strategy implementation.

• Actively engage key partners/lawyers to maximise local/sub-regional client and business opportunities in major practices/sectors including infrastructure and procurement.

• Support the production of campaigns, press releases, client alerts, newsletters, insights, and related external client announcements.

• Develop and request marketing materials and collateral in compliance with the Firm’s internal global brand procedures and protocols.

• Support the procurement of branded and local tokens for corporate gifting.

• Support the Chairman and CMMC head with the Global Commercial Arrangements Team (GCAT) request.

• Support the Chairman and CMMC head with the AmCham BEC

• Assist with collecting information and preparing submissions for Chambers and Partners, The Legal 500, and other rankings, directories, and awards.

• Compile and track practice matter experience in the Firm’s global credential database.

• Support the development of new lawyer bios and update existing lawyer bios with new content, including matters and awards/rankings.

• Plan and execute partner meetings, conferences, webinars, and other client-facing events, in addition to coordinating with lawyers and others to develop required materials for co-sponsored and third-party events. Maintain the database of postmortem and ROI reports.

• Support the development of PowerPoint and other types of presentations and exhibits for speaking engagements.

• Coach lawyers on best practice across the full spectrum of Business Development and Marketing, including but not limited to Proposals, Client Development, Directory Submissions, and internal tools.

• Support the maintenance of client CRM and other databases and prospect mailing lists, in addition to overseeing the annual client listening and feedback initiatives.

• Support LAC Regional Practice / Sector groups as assigned and support regional and global leaders in the Firm’s jurisdictions.

• Coordinate responses to regional and global requests for cross-border or multijurisdictional matters.

• Provide assistance for research projects, including client industry, competitive intelligence, and compile research reports for business development opportunities.
