Job Description

Dentons is currently seeking a motivated professional for the post of Junior Legal Assistant to join our rapidly growing team, in Barbados. The role will support the Attorneys in the Litigation and Dispute Resolution in Barbados and the region. To be effective in this role, you will need to provide exceptional customer service to our clients, display excellent time-management and organizational skills, and attend to the legal needs of the company and staff in a quick and efficient manner. A strong candidate for this role is a professional individual who is efficient, organized and detail-oriented.

The incumbent’s responsibilities will include but not be limited to the following:

  • Onboarding of new clients (KYC client intake and formal engagement of clientele)
  • Preparation and Filing of documents on the Court Registry electronic portal and at the Court Registry offices
  • A level of confidence in communicating with clients, their representatives, external parties including Court personnel
  • Extensive experience with the preparation of pleadings, memorandum, Court Forms, Affidavits and other Court related documents
  • Collating of documents in a presentable and comprehensive manner
  • Arranging with process servers or couriers to serve and deliver documents and ensure that valid and proper service is completed in a timely manner
  • Assists with internal and external reports, billing processes, and manage disbursements associated with document preparation or filing
  • Working closely with the Team in anticipation of upcoming deadlines and calendar events
  • Knowledgeable and keenly aware of the appropriate actions and tasks as it pertains to case management
  • Ensure the up-to-date management of files
  • Ability to independently follow-up on matter


The ideal candidate should have at least five (5) years’ experience functioning in a similar role, ideally working with litigation matters and be proficient in the use of:

  • Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook Email and Calendar (scheduling timelines, booking meetings via Zoom, Teams or in person)
  • Kofax or Adobe;
  • Billing management programs
  • Court Registry electronic filing portals
  • Data room and document sharing platforms
  • Candidates must also possess the following:
  • Proven track record for impeccable attention to detail and proof reading
  • Ability to take initiative with proven examples
  • Ability to thrive in a fast pace environment with tight deadlines
  • Experience with juggling and re-prioritizing tasks to accommodate urgent matters
  • A valid Barbados Driver’s Licence and access to a vehicle Enthusiastic and extremely organized Have excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
